Heuchera

Planting

• Plant in the shade - morning sun is fine, but afternoon sun will be too hot.

• Heucheras will grow in most soils provided they are not too wet and are adequately drained.

• Add compost or peat humus to enrich and loosen the soil, if needed.

• Plant with the crown about 1" below soil level and then mulch lightly after planting. The roots should not be showing after planting and watering them in lightly.

 

Plantation

• Planter à l’ombre – le soleil matinal est idéal, le soleil en après-midi sera trop chaud.

• Les Heuchères poussent dans tous les sols ni trop humides et bien drainés.

• Ajouter du compost ou de la tourbe pour ameublir le sol, si besoin.

• Planter la couronne à environ 2,5 cm avec un léger paillis. Les racines ne doivent pas apparaitrent après la plantation; arroser modérément.

Growing

• They make excellent mass plantings where other plants may have trouble growing such as steep hills or in below average soil, or they even work well with trees and shrubs.

• Take advantage of their attractive foliage and grow them amongst your other plants for adding texture.

 

Croissance

• Ils font d’excellentes plantes à massifs là où d’autres plantes ont du mal à se developer, comme des collines escarpées ou rocailles. Elles se plaisent aussi sous les arbres et arbustes.

• Tirez parti de leur magnifiques feuilles, et placez les parmis votre autres plantes pour ajouter de la texture.

 

Taking Care

• These perennials attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

• They are ideal when planted amid patches of spring-flowering bulbs, as their foliage will obscure the bulb foliage as it dies back.

 

Conseils

• Ces vivaces attirent les papillons et colibris.

• Les Heuchères est idéal planté parmi les bulbes de printemps, couvrant ainsi le feuillage des bulbes en fin de vie.

 

Winterizing

• For new plants, provide a winter mulch of evergreen boughs or salt marsh hay after the ground freezes to help prevent heaving.

• Foliage should not be cut back in fall even if the foliage is run down because it would expose the plant to the cold and this would weaken the regrowth in spring.

 

Période hivernale

• Pour les jeunes plantes, placer une protection hivernale avec du feuillage persistant une fois le sol gelé, cela empêchera une levée trop hâtive.

• Il faut éviter de couper les feuilles des heuchères à l’automne même si le feuillage se défraîchit car on exposerait la plante au froid et on affaiblirait la repousse du printemps.
